Sunday School for Adults

We offer several Sunday School classes for adults. These classes meet between services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Please contact the adult Sunday School coordinators if you have any questions.

A list of meeting rooms is located on the bulletin board outside the church office.

Followers of Christ Class

This class is currently using a study entitled ”Faith Lessons on the Life and Ministry of Jesus”. This video-based study weaves together the Bible’s historical, cultural, religious and geographical contexts to reveal insights into the Scripture’s significance for modern believers. The class uses an interactive discussion format. Everyone is welcome to join in as we explore our faith through Bible study.

This class is led by Karan Wester (telephone: 512.989.2862).

Adult Bible Study Class

Study and interpretation of the Bible and how it applies to our daily lives.

This class is led by its members.

Methodist Information Class

This class explores Methodist history, beliefs, practices, spiritual gifts, and disciplines; how the church functions; and how to become involved in the church community. We welcome visitors, new members, established members and anyone who wants to know more about the Methodist Church.

This class is led by Emmett Eary (telephone: 512.251.2145).

Good News Bible Study

The Good News Sunday School class is an in depth study of the Bible. We read the Word, then have open discussions answering questions from class handouts. Come join us as we read the Good News!

This class is led by Charley Judd (telephone: 512.989.6161).

No Strings Attached

This class is intended for single and married 20 & 30 year olds who do not have children. We will deal with current events and relevant topics for this age group, including biblical references, through discussion, Q & A, and video clips. We will look at ways to put our faith in action. Topics will be determined by the class’s interests.

Cortney Smith (email: cortney.smith@cancer.org) is the primary teacher of this class. Some other members teach on a rotating basis.

Issues Class

The Issues class looks for intersections of faith in the course of living our daily lives. Topics may relate to scriptural or topical study to current issues of books by Christian authors.

This class is led by Linda Miles (telephone: 512.252.8300).

Mystical Christianity: The Gospel of John

This class views the Gospel of John for its psychological and spiritual insights. As we open the Gospel of John to behold what it contains, we will also allow John to help us be open to ourselves and what treasures we will find contained within our selves and our world.

The format for this class is not lecture, though plenty of information will be presented. The point will be to share the richness of our own selves and our own worlds with the help of this sacred text.

This class is led by Pastor Terry Dowdy.

Parenting with God

This is an interactive parenting class that explores the relationships in children’s lives - with God, with those outside the home and with parents. The study focuses on how to “parent with a plan” so we become the kind of parents God wants us to be. Topics are biblically based with the use of scripture and modern Christian parenting books.

This class is led by Craig & Kim Moser (telephone: 512.252.0887).
