Administrative Service

The ministry of the church does not happen automatically. Many groups provide oversight, resources and inspiration to all of the ministries of our church. The people who give of their time in this area are critical to the success of our whole ministry program. More people are always needed to participate in this area of ministry.

Please see the group and activity contact page to contact the leaders of the various administrative groups.

The various committees and other administrative groups that keep our congregation running are listed below.

Administrative Council

Administrative Council is the governing body of the church and is made up of committee chairs and selected members at large. The council provides oversight for planning and implementing programs to nurture, outreach and witness to the congregation and the community through committees. Monthly meetings provide a time for each committee chair to report on activities being planned. The council allows for members to be aware of all activities being planned and approved (if necessary) for the congregation.

Board of Trustees

This administrative and working group oversees everything related to the church physical plant, property and equipment. They determine our church’s property use policy, work with the church leadership to develop long-term plans for our facilities, and provide for the maintenance and repair of our property. The nine-member board rotates with three members going off and three members begin elected each year.

The terms of office are three years. The Trustees elect their own officers. The board members are elected by the Annual Church Conference. Persons interested in working with the Board of Trustees are encouraged to contact current chairperson.

Christian Education Committee

The Education Committee meets the 3rd Sunday of every month to discuss and implement the needs of Children’s Education including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Mission projects, Children’s Church, and other children’s educational activities. We welcome anyone to serve on this important committee at any time during the year.

Technology Committee

This committee is charged with the task of coordinating the use of technology for communications purposes within the church and outside the church. It has responsibility for the sound system and visual system in worship, maintains the web site, and works with Evangelism in the area of advertising.

Evangelism Committee

The Evangelism Committee takes the message of Jesus Christ and shares it with others, especially with those who do not have a relationship with Him, and invites them to follow Him as disciples. The mission of the Evangelism Committee is to empower and equip members to share their faith and to invite others to worship, so that they too can encounter Jesus and experience the grace and mercy of God.

Family Life Ministries

The Family Life Ministry Committee is committed to providing an outreach of support and fellowship for families in our church as well as families in the community. Each year, the Family Life Ministry Committee puts on the Easter Egg Hunt and the Advent Festival to help the children and families of our church celebrate two very important holidays. We also host an annual golf tournament to raise money for a charitable cause, and we host a school supply drive and donate the supplies to children in the Pflugerville Independent School District.

Last year for the first time, we participated in Main Street Halloween and handed out candy to many trick-or-treaters. We are always looking for new, exciting ideas and welcome new members to the committee. We meet the third Sunday of each month at 10:45 (right after Sunday school).

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee compiles an annual budget which will be approved by the Administrative Council. The committee also is in charge of developing and implementing plans to raise sufficient income to meet the budget. It also administers the funds and oversees all financial matters of the church. Persons are members of the Finance Committee by virtue of another office or are elected as at-large members.

Interior Design Committee

A sub-committee of the Board of Trustees, it is charged with planning the interior decorations of the new sanctuary, especially the narthex, bride’s room and other spaces. They work with the Worship Committee to add decorations to the worship area which will enhance our praise to God.

Lay Delegates to Annual Conference

The responsibilities of the lay delegates are to attend annual conference, participate in the voting process and report back to the Administrative Council the work of the Annual Conference.

Lay Leader

The Lay Leader of the church is charged with the responsibility of fostering awareness of the role of laity both within the congregation and through their ministries in the home, workplace, community and world, and finding ways within the community of faith to recognize all these ministries. The Lay Leader meets regularly with the pastor to discuss the state of the church and the needs for ministry. The Lay Leader is a member of the Administrative Council, the Committee on Finance, and the Committee on Lay Leadership. The Lay Leader coordinates FUMC’s monthly worship ministry to the Pflugerville Nursing Home by recruiting speakers, musicians and visitors from among the members of FUMC.

Lay Leadership Committee

This committee's purpose is to recruit and train laity for leadership in the church. It is also charged with assessing the leadership needs of the church and recommending new groups and leaders for new areas of ministry.

Membership Committee

This committee coordinates various fellowship gatherings, such as: three new members dinners per year (February, June & October); a quarterly Fellowship Breakfast (assigned to a trio of committees per breakfast); sends get-well and sympathy cards to members of the church as well as organizing meals for these families. Additional duties for the Membership Committee include making coffee for Sunday morning worship, spearheading the pictorial directory and contacting inactive members.

It determines staff needs and recommends staff salaries for the annual budget. The SPRC is a liaison, between the clergy and the laity. It is composed of nine, all of whom are elected by the Annual Church Conference and who serve three year-terms on a rotating basis. The Lay Leader is also a member of the SPRC.

Adult Spiritual Growth Committee

This committee is charged with encouraging spiritual growth among the members of our church, especially through Disciple Bible Study, Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis.

Worship Committee

Within our church, the Worship Committee facilities the worship experience for the congregation as a whole. The Worship Committee, working with the pastor, strives to create an orderly, worshipful atmosphere within all weekly services. Additionally, the planning and implementation of any seasonal or special services are coordinated with this group.
