Visiting Our Worship Services
We welcome guests to all of our services. Hopefully, this page will answer any questions you may have. You're also welcome to contact the church office with your questions.
What are the services like?
We have three Sunday services that offer different styles of worship.
- The 8:30 a.m. Praise Song
service is led by our a
praise band and features lots of singing
of contemporary praise music. The lyrics are displayed on the video
projectors.
- The 10:45 a.m. Traditional service has the
chancel choir
performing and leading the congregation in singing hymns from the hymnals in the pews.
- The Creekside Gathering multi-sensory worship service at 11:00 a.m. is a casual worship service featuring contemporary Christian music. It is a place where you can be yourself, be comfortable, connect with God, and meet people who face the same things you do.
Both services have a sermon, the reading of a short Bible passage or two, a time to raise prayers of celebration and concern, a children's sermon, and recitation of the Lord's Prayer.
We celebrate communion at both services on the first Sunday of the month. All who have been baptized are invited to participate. During communion, each row is invited to the altar rail to receive the bread and wine (well, we use grape juice). Some guests are not sure about participating in communion. It's a personal decision, and it's not uncommon for a few people in the service to stay in their seats during communion.
We offer gluten-free bread for communion.
Greeting guests - During announcements time in the service, the pastor usually asks first-time guests to raise their hands so that ushers can hand them a packet of information. If you prefer not to identify yourself but would still like to receive the packet, please ask an usher.
Passing of the Peace - During each service, this is a short time where the attendees are invited to stand and greet those around them. Some people just shake hands and say 'Good morning'; others say things like 'The peace of Christ be with you.' If those around you don't recognize you as a regular, they'll probably briefly introduce themselves as well.
How long do the services last?
Our services typically last about an hour. If there is a special activity, such as a baptism, they may run a little longer.
Where do I park?
When you pull into our driveway from Pecan St., there are several parking spaces on the left reserved for guests. Please feel free to use one of those when you visit us. If all the spaces in the front of our property are taken, continue straight and there is a large parking lot in the back of the property.
Where do I go once I get there?
Our campus consists of four main buildings. On the right (looking from Pecan St.) is the worship center. On the left (looking from Pecan St.) is the Education Building, which houses childcare and children's Sunday School classes. The other two buildings--the Administration Building and the Family Life Center--house our church office, youth and adult classrooms and the fellowship hall. We usually have coffee (and sometimes doughnuts or other treats!) available right inside the door of the Family Life Center before each service.
When you walk into the door of our worship building, you'll find ushers handing out service bulletins and ready to answer any questions you may have. To your left, you'll find blue denim 'busy bags' filled with activities to occupy young children during the service and the door to the baby nursery. The restrooms and water fountain are also located in this area.
When you come into the sanctuary, please take a seat wherever you want.
What should I wear?
In short, whatever you want! In our services, you'll see some people in their Sunday best, others in shorts and T-shirts, and a whole bunch everywhere in between.
Can I bring my children into the service?
Children of all ages are welcome in our worship services, but we also offer child care during both of our Sunday services. The baby nursery (0-18 months) and the toddler room (18 months-3 years) is in the Education Building. These nurseries are also available during Sunday School.
If you bring your children into worship, activity bags
for young children are available in the entry to the worship building. Also,
if you children become restless during the service, you're welcome to
continue to take part in the service from the cry room located at the back
of the sanctuary.
There is usually a short children's time during the service. For this time, children through first grade age are invited to the altar for a short presentation or discussion with a children's leader.
Please ask an usher or greeter if you have any questions about children during worship services.
